Oh. God. I will NEVER sew with velvet again. I don't have the proper sewing accessories to deal with it like it should be.

Blood red velvet, gold and red tapestry, white cotton sleeves and ruffles with a fine gold zigzag edging. Hand sewn pearl accents...

Fully boned bodice with 1/2 inch steel boning and lined in broadcloth. Surprisingly comfy!

And I made the headpeice out of a sunvisor and remnants. :D

It came out lovely though. What sort of velvet is it? I've found that cotton velvet and velveteen are *less* of a pain. The fit is excellent.

I believe it's really more of a velveteen since it has a shorter pile. It was very good quality, though, and not very heavy.

Velvet in general just creeps and crawls no matter how many pins you stick in it. Bummer, because it makes things look richer.

Eh, maybe I'll break down and do another one next year.
